The Spyderco UpTern brings the well adapted Byrd Tern slip joint into the Value Line as a sleek back lock folder with an uncommon balance of performance and style. A choil equipped straight spine blade pairs with a solid stainless steel handle for a slim daily carry folder with a premium feel at a frugal price. This version has a satin finished partially serrated 8Cr13MoV blade.
Brand new, direct from Spyderco.
Blade:Â The straight spine blade has a sub-3 inch length with a versatile partially serrated cutting edge and handsome satin finish. Serrations make short work of tough material while the plain edge allows for clean slicing. A full flat grind delivers excellent cutting performance while the straight spine ends in a fine point for piercing. The ambidextrous Round Hole opener makes for smooth, easy, one hand operation while a jimped thumb ramp and index choil provide traction for optimal control in use.
Handle:Â Solid stainless steel handles are durable and low maintenance with contoured edges and an ergonomic design that delivers comfort in the hand, a slim carry profile and fast draw from the pocket. A sturdy mid-back lock design is easy to operate and provides solid lockup and reliable safety.
Carries via a 4-position, stainless steel hourglass pocket clip.
8Cr13MoV:Â Similar to Japanese AUS-8, 8Cr13MoV is a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel with a good balance of toughness and strength. It offers good corrosion resistance and takes a razor sharp edge with ease. Edge holding is relatively low.
