Designed by Spyderco founder Sal Glesser the Stretch 2 evolved from a purpose built folding hunter to an all-purpose daily carry companion. The Stretch 2 XL scales up the overall length of this popular back lock folder by a scant 8% while packing 13% more blade and reducing the weight by a full ounce thanks to a linerless construction. With a great blade to weight ratio this performance driven design is sure to be a winner. This version comes with a partially serrated satin VG10 blade and black FRN handles.
Brand new, direct from Spyderco.
Blade:Â The satin finished VG10 stainless steel comes in a full flat ground, straight spine profile that slices like a razor with a versatile partially serrated cutting edge. An increase in length from the original delivers nearly 3.5 inches of cutting edge to handle tasks large and small. Jimping on the 50/50 choil and thumb ramp allow for optimal control during use while the Round Hole delivers fast, easy, and ambidextrous one hand opening.
Handle:Â Durable, weather resistant Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon or FRN delivers optimal traction thanks to bidirectional texturing while contoured edges provide a comfortable grip during extended use. The linerless construction reduces the weight by 29 percent compared to standard Stretch despite a larger overall size. The ambidextrous mid-back lock mechanism is time tested providing secure lockup during use with a Boye Dent for added safety under pressure.
Carries via a 4-Position stainless steel pocket clip.
VG10:Â Japanese Takefu VG10 is a high-carbon stainless steel that takes a fine edge and holds it well. Often hardened to 60-61 HRC in high-end kitchen knives, edge retention and toughness are on par with 440C with better corrosion resistance. A solid choice for small pocket knives, an acute, high polished edge delivers optimal slicing performance.
