The Chappy Friction Folder from Sakman Knives out of South Africa is a very traditional, straight-forward interpretation of the classic design. Maker Sakkie Steenkamp builds a clean, purposeful knife perfect for those with lock laws or just fans of the friction folder.
The Blade: Built from premium Bohler M310 stainless steel done in a useful sheeps foot-style and stonewash finished. This one gives you just under 2 inches of cutting edge, just enough for every day cutting chores. It opens via an integral lever that extends out of the handle when closed. Once the blade is open and the lever is in position, your thumb acts as a “lock” keeping the blade in place. A non-locking design for easy, light duty cutting.
The Handle: Two slabs of lightly textured Neon Green G-10 are grooved, contoured and comfortable. There are no liners or locking mechanisms of any kind. Just a simple cutting tool design. It does have a stop pin for the lever, lanyard hole and attached black lanyard with brass bullet casing bead.
The Chappy comes in a pouch with a signed Specs Card from the maker. Brand new item.
Bohler M310 is a martensitic chromium stainless steel with similar properties to AISI 420. It exudes excellent polishing and wear resistance.
