A popular knife with Military and Law Enforcement Personnel, Fire and Rescue crews and civilians who appreciate a hardworking, dependable tool, the Recon Series from Cold Steel come razor sharp and built like a tank. Their construction has been engineered to make them as strong and durable as possible while being thin, light, and scalpel sharp. This full size Recon 1 is equipped with a black DLC coated CPM-S35VN spear point blade and black peel ply G10 scales.
Brand new, direct from Cold Steel.
Blade: Black DLC coated CPM S35VN offers balanced performance with added resistance to wear and corrosion, along with being discreetly non-reflective. An adjustable dual thumb stud makes the knife fully ambidextrous with smooth, solid deployment on rugged bronze washers. The utilitarian spear point profile offers powerful piercing and slicing balanced with durability thanks to a high saber grind and spine swedge.
Handle: Peel ply textured black G10 handle scales are durable, lightweight and weather resistant. The finer texture pairs with the deep finger grooves for a secure grip with chamfered edges for comfort. The scales house the blade and Tri-Ad back lock mechanism (see below), delivering an unbelievably strong design that is easy to operate and carry. A hole is provided for lanyard attachment.
Carries via tip up stainless steel pocket clips, right or left-handed.
CPM-S35VN:Â A modified version of S30V designed for improved toughness over and easier machining and polish. Toughness is improved roughly 15-20%, with a slight decrease in wear resistance (edge retention). Corrosion resistance is also lightly higher, close to AISI 420. S35VN is a well-balanced steel for daily use.
Tri-Ad Lock:Â The Tri-Ad lock system functions like any back lock: pushing down on a lock bar spring in the handle releases the blade. It differs by adding a stop pin between the blade tang and lock bar. This pin handles any pressure put on the knife and allows the spring to self adjust over time, resulting in a rock solid lock that can handle an absurd amount of weight in lock strength tests.
