Cold Steel is somewhat synonymous with “gigantic knives” and the Atlas lock equipped Mayhem is a perfect example. The modified clip point blade delivers six inches of sweeping cutting edge backed by the heavy-duty Atlas slide lock mechanism. Fully ambidextrous and built like a tank, the Mayhem fits the bill when a powerful folding cutting tool is required. This version has an AUS10A blade and black and gray GFN handle scales. *Specifications subject to change*
Brand new, direct from Cold Steel.
Blade: With a sweeping belly and prominent, up swept clip point the AUS10A is a powerhouse blade with a high saber grind for exceptional strength balanced with performance. Jimping on the spine scoop provides traction and leverage in heavy use or added control when using a pinch grip. The Atlas lock gives the blade fast, decisive deployment via dual thumb studs or via the lock itself riding smooth on bronze washers.
Handle: Skeletonized steel liners support contoured, textured glass-filled nylon (GFN) scales for a solid handle that is comfortable and secure with enough real estate for the largest of hands and multiple grip options. The arc of the handle provides a large index guard and pommel hook for safety during heavy use with subtle finger grooves forward and aft for enhanced control. Exceptionally strong yet easy to operate, the Atlas lock is fidget friendly and ready for serious use.
Carries via a reversible stainless steel deep carry clip.
Japanese AUS-10A Stainless Steel: Similar to AISI 440C, AUS10 offers excellent corrosion resistance, good edge retention and easy sharpening. For AUS-10A, the “A” at the end indicates the steel has been annealed after the rolling, which does not affect the blade performance.
Atlas Lock: This patent pending slide lock offers ease of use with exceptional strength. A spring-loaded steel bar rides on pins set into the handle. The forked end of the bar slides around two pins that serve as blade and lock stops respectively. The interior prong of the fork sits between the blade stop pin and blade tang locking the knife solidly in the open position and distributing lock force over the two pins for added strength (tested to over 700 lbs!).
