Raphaël Durand is one of the most sought-after custom knife makers in France and has paired with Boker to deliver the Frelon back lock folder. The Frelon is built with custom quality at a non-custom price and features a satin finished VG-10 blade and 3D machined and contoured Black G10 with Orange G10 liners.
Brand new, direct from Boker Knives.
Blade: The Japanese VG10 stainless steel blade has a beautifully sweeping clip point blade with an elegant top swedge and fine, hand rubbed satin finish. There is no nail nick on the blade, common on Durand designs, but the blade is easily opened by pinching the blade spine and pulling to open. The blade is equipped with a razor sharp hollow grind for slicing performance while the top swedge provides a robust piercing point. Fine jimping on the thumb scoop that offer traction and comfort.
Handle: A classic, Mediterranean influenced backlock, the Frelon is has beautifully contoured smooth black G10 handles with contrasting orange G10 liners. The lack of steel liners keeps the weight low while the integral washer milling offers smooth operation. The back lock is smooth to operate and rock solid. A black paracord lanyard is attached for convenience of use.
The Frelon does not include a pocket clip.
Japanese VG10: VG-10 is a high-carbon stainless steel that takes a very good edge and holds it well. Popular with Japanese kitchen knife makers it is often hardened to 60-61 HRC A popular choice for small pocket knives thanks to good edge holding and stain resistance VG10 works well with a high polished, acute edge for optimal slicing performance.
